Restored Time: A Handmade Table Clock with a Reclaimed Spring Mechanism
Some objects deserve a second life—especially when they carry time inside them.
This handmade table clock started with an old wall clock that no longer worked. Instead of letting it end as waste, I carefully removed the spring-driven mechanism and fully restored it. After cleaning, repairing, and adjusting the movement, the clock returned to what it was originally built for: keeping time with real mechanical character.
The wooden case is handcrafted to support and protect the mechanism while keeping the most beautiful part visible. Through the front window, the clockwork becomes part of the design—gears, levers, and the quiet rhythm of a traditional movement on a spring.
Every half hour, the clock chimes. It’s a small detail, but it changes the feeling of the object: this isn’t just decoration, it’s a living instrument with presence in the room.
To add warmth in the evening, I integrated a subtle LED light into the case. The soft illumination highlights the texture of the wood and the details of the mechanism, creating an ambient glow without overpowering the piece.
This clock is a unique restoration project—reclaimed parts, handmade craftsmanship, and a functional object with a story. Made to last, and made to be noticed.
